“It was great to be able to study and work. Both the University and my employers were fully supportive of my wish to further my studies in this way,” he said.

“It’s given me extra skills which I can apply in my job and also more prospects for promotion as I am passionate about furthering my career. It’s been so rewarding. I’ll be returning to the University next year to do a Master’s in Criminal Justice and Policing.

“My lecturers have encouraged me all the way and I would not hesitate in recommending the course to others interested in doing something similar. Working and studying at the same time is achievable and you won’t look back. It’s been an amazing experience and to graduate with a First is something I’m so proud of.”

UWTSD’s Bronwen Williams Academic Director at UWTSD's Swansea Business Campus said: “Saull came to us straight from Coleg Sir Gar to initially study a BA in Public Services, however in his first year he successfully passed the recruitment for Dyfed Powys Police. We were able to transfer him to the HND programme and he left us to join the force. After undergoing the first two years of his probation with the police he was able to come back and complete his degree with us. We are so very proud of all Saull has achieved. Our aim at UWTSD is to help students succeed and progress in their chosen careers and we were delighted to support Saul in being able to get an excellent education and join his chosen profession.”
