During this academic year 118 students at UWTSD and Coleg Sir Gâr have received one of the Coleg’s scholarships including the William Salesbury Scholarship, Incentive Scholarships, Research Scholarships and Main Scholarships.

In conjunction with the Coleg the university and Coleg Sir Gâr have invested extensively in recent years in creating new Welsh medium provision in fields such as Art & Design, Agriculture, Sport Studies, Business, Early Years, Youth and Community Work, and Religious Studies. By now the majority of Welsh-medium courses at UWTSD qualify for Coleg Scholarships.

Bethan Wyn, Branch Officer of the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David, said:

“我们are delighted that so many of our students have secured a Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol scholarship this year. The University is fully committed to providing quality education through the medium of Welsh and to ensure that our students have every opportunity to study in their preferred language.

Over recent years we have invested extensively in a wide range of academic fields in order to increase and expand the Welsh medium provision at the university. The University is working closely with the Coleg to develop and provide innovative Welsh medium education and we continue to plan to ensure that provision and further opportunities are available to our students in the future."

Dr Dafydd Trystan, Registrar of the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol, said:

“As part of the Coleg Cymraeg's response to the Covid-19 crisis the incentive scholarship scheme was extended to include all students who started university in September who had chosen to study at least 40 credits through the medium of Welsh.

“Across Wales the Coleg awarded over 500 incentive scholarships, a record number. We are delighted that the University of Wales Trinity Saint David has supported so many students to successfully apply for a scholarship and is now benefiting from the Welsh language provision available at the University. We wish them all every success.”
