Eisteddfod T

As the pandemic’s restrictions have again postponed the Urdd Eisteddfod in Denbigh, Eisteddfod T will be held as a digital festival over the coming week. Following the festival’s success last year, the decision was made to hold Eisteddfod T again this year in order to give Wales’ young people the opportunity to compete virtually. During the week, there will be an abundance of competitions with over 12,000 having taken part, and the University is very proud to be supporting the festival.

The University is responsible for all of the Festival’s programmes being broadcast on S4C during the week from the Urdd Camp in Llangrannog presented by Heledd Cynwal and Trystan Ellis - Morris, a former student at the Carmarthen campus. In addition, the University will sponsor the Year 10 and under 19 years old Musical Solo competition.

Gwilym Dyfri Jones, Provost of the Carmarthen and Lampeter Campuses said: “University of Wales Trinity Saint David is very proud to be sponsoring Eisteddfod T again this year. We truly admire the way the Urdd has adapted to the challenging circumstances and has continued to give the young people of Wales’ talents a platform through the medium of Welsh. We wish everyone competing during the week the very best of luck.”

Siân Eirian, Director of the Urdd Eisteddfod and the Arts said: “We are so grateful to the University of Wales Trinity Saint David for supporting Eisteddfod T again this year. The Urdd wouldn’t be able to organise as good a celebration of our children and young people’s talents without the support of our sponsors and partners. We’re looking forward to holding another innovative digital festival, full of excitement and fun.”

Another one of Carmarthen’s former students, Ifan Jones Evans, will be broadcasting Eisteddfod T with Ffion Emyr on Radio Cymru from May 31st to 4th between 2 and 5pm.
